DIONELA'S NEW SINGLE IS A HEAVENLY TAKE ON THE R&B SOUNDS

Dionela’s new release is “Langit,” a tender ballad that evokes various mythological figures and themes in a celebration of one’s love for another. On this track, Dionela collaborated with musician Sam Dice. Dionela produced the song and Meizy Dionela helped record it.

One interesting thing about “Langit” is that nowhere in the lyrics does that word appear. However, Dionela says that this line in Tagalog inspired this song: “Minsan ang langit, isang halik lang ang layo sayo pag nahanap mo yung tamang tao.” (Sometimes, heaven is just a kiss away if you’ve found the one.) The song’s evocation of mythology, which is the composer’s unique lyrical touch, gives the feeling that one’s love for the beloved puts them head and shoulders beyond just the ordinary.

The R&B genre has always been something Dionela likes, and “Langit” is his take on what he calls an old-school R&B sound. He says that the song blends this sound with his distinct lyricism, one which can take his listeners by surprise. A song like this, he says, is the sort of thing he imagines that would blast from an old-fashioned boom box carried on someone’s shoulder.

“Langit” is yet more proof that this talented singer-songwriter is ready to make a mark on the music world. With this song, Dionela blends lyrical chops with memorable melodies and rhythms. It is the sort of song that inspires people in love, which is not a bad thing to have.
