Racking up over 1 billion streams to date, gold-certified alternative pop phenomenon COIN release their brand-new single “Cutie” alongside the official music video, directed by Louis Browne [Olivia Rodrigo, J Balvin, Billie Eilish] and COIN’s very own Chase Lawrence.
Speaking on the track, the band says, “Three versions of us exist at all times – the actual, superficial, & digital. These identities are always changing, each one informing the other. How can we know which is even ‘real’? How can I expect to limit someone to the context of my own self-awareness? ‘Cutie’ zooms in on control, change, and confusion. On a lighter note, the song is about AI tasting a tangerine for the first time. Throw the ingredients in the musical blender.”
“Cutie” marks the follow up to the band’s previous single “Chapstick,” which, in a matter of months, has amassed over 7 million streams, reached Top 10 at AAA and Top 20 Alternative Radio and currently sits at #1 on SiriusXM’s Alt Nation Alt18 Countdown. Garnering praise across the board, the song was hailed by Consequence of Sound as “the kind of pop at which COIN excels,” while People touted them among “The Talented Emerging Artists Making Their Mark on the Musical Landscape in 2021.”
Ending 2021 with a sold-out 26-city North American tour, the band will continue to take the stage this year, joining 5 Seconds of Summer’s Arena Tour in the UK this spring, followed by a slew of festival performances including Bonnaroo, Governor’s Ball, Forecastle and Shaky Knees, with more to be announced.
COIN present a new picture for alternative pop. The Nashville triumvirate have impressively generated over 1 billion streams and earned a gold certification for their 2017 breakthrough anthem “Talk Too Much.” In between releasing albums such as COIN , How Will You Know If You Never Try , and Dreamland , they’ve toured alongside everyone from The 1975 to Young The Giant and earned widespread acclaim from Entertainment Weekly, Teen Vogue, Billboard and many more.
Signing to 10K Projects/Homemade Projects last fall, the trio kicked off their next chapter with their balmy bop “Chapstick.” Amassing over 7 million streams and continuing to rise up the charts at both AAA and Alternative Radio, the single was followed by a sold-out 26-city headlining North American tour. Now diving into 2022, COIN prepares to join 5 Seconds of Summer on their UK Arena Tour this spring, as well as a slew of festival performances including Bonnaroo, Governor’s Ball, Forecastle and Shaky Knees, with more to be announced. Setting the stage for more to come, the alt-pop trio now present their latest single “Cutie.”
